The list of new pilots for the 2006 demonstration season includes the first female demonstration pilot in the 52-year history of the Thunderbirds.
Capt. Nicole Malachowski, 30, will join the unit at Nellis Air Force Base in November, Air Force officials said Friday. She is due to make her public debut in March with the unit’s 53rd tour season.
Malachowski recently finished a four-month assignment flying with Operation Iraqi Freedom.
