Airbus used the backdrop of the Farnborough Air Show to today present a new family of aircraft, the A350 XWB, for Extra Wide Body, which will offer increased range, more speed, enhanced passenger comfort and improved economics and efficiency.
Boeing has completed a large prototype 787 wing section, and now engineers will try to destroy it.
On the first day of the Farnborough Air Show outside London, Boeing released details and photos of the 50-foot-long section – the longest piece of the new jet’s structure yet built and the first largely plastic wing for a jet airliner.

Honeywell is expected to announce the introduction of its new Synthetic Vision safety system that will be available in 2007 on business jets with avionics systems. Synthetic Vision gives the pilot a three-dimensional view of terrain and obstacles. Honeywell hopes the product will eventually become standard equipment.
Over 60 Russian defense industry companies will present their products at the 2006 Farnborough International Airshow ~ A spokesman for Russia’s Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation said Russia would present the MiG-29M OVT (Fulcrum F) highly maneuverable air superiority fighter.

The single-seat fighter, also marketed for export as the MiG-35, is powered by RD-33 OVT thrust vectoring control engines. The RD-33 OVT engines provide superior maneuverability capability to the aircraft enhancing its performance in close air-to-air engagements.
