This high-feature V-6 is arguably more significant and undeniably higher tech than the Camaro’s V-8.
The SS will sport two pushrod 6.2-liter V-8s ranging from 395 to 420 bhp. Those who choose the Tremec 6060 manual will get the LS3 from the Corvette, while buyers opting for the 6-speed automatic will get the L99 V-8 with active fuel management, which cycles back and forth between four and eight cylinders to boost fuel economy.
New Camaros will appear in Chevy dealerships in March, arriving as 2010 models.
Update 07/21/08 – Ed Peper, vice president of Chevrolet, said the V-6 version will get a combined estimated 26 miles per gallon and the V-8 version will get 23 mpg.
Ive just GOT to have one ! Looks stunning.
WhitDawg,
I really want one too. The direct-injection V6 actually sounds like a pretty good choice. 300 horsepower is probably enough for just about anybody, but the V8 with active fuel management seems like a good way to get even more power without costing so much in reduced mileage. Yet, if an LS3 is available, how can you choose anything else? Except maybe waiting for the supercharged version.
I might have to get rid of my RX8.
Supercharged version … mmmmm !
