Okoboji
The main attractions of the Okoboji area are the glacier-carved lakes. This beautiful chain of lakes extends from the Minnesota border southwest several miles and covers about fifteen thousand acres. The Iowa Great Lakes include Iowas largest natural lake, Spirit Lake and five interconnected lakes: West Okoboji, East Okoboji, Upper Gar, Lower Gar and Minnewashta. Spring-fed West Lake Okoboji is a beautiful shade of blue and 134′ deep. It is the centerpiece of the five chain lakes, and the surrounding communities provide the backdrop for Okobojis year around playground.
Visit the Museum or take a boat tour on the QueenII.
There are a lot of restored boats at the lake.

Hot Dog Eating Contest
New York’s greatest eaters were at Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island trying to stop him, but Takeru Kobayashi of Japan sucessfully defended his title by consuming 49 Nathan’s Famous hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes.
SUV
We buy Kenworth semi chassis and build SUVs on them. Shown is the Dominator model, which includes the eight rear wheels for handling those trips to Sam’s Club.
If you’re one of the 90% of SUV owners who never drive them off-road, you might want to order Spray On Mud.
Ok, the Kenworth Pilgrimage is s spoof, but you CAN get a Navistar Pickup. To get a bigger truck, you have to shop at Cat or NASA.
Little Worlds
What you are seeing refracted is an old wellhead that’s sitting outside the back door of Nathan’s girlfriend’s parents’ house near Paris. There is a flowerpot hanging off the edge…
Gender Genie
The Gender Genie, at bookblog, will guess your sex from text that you have written. I gave it a try.
I posted this text:
I graduated High School in 1974. I can remember when they enacted the “Temporary 55 MPH speed limit”. That was a big jump from Day-70/Night-60 MPH. We figured it would save a lot of gas because people would just say “If it takes that long to get there, we just won’t go”. I remember joking about how we would someday be talking to our grandkids.
Me: We used to drive over 30 MPH all the time.
Grandkid: Gosh Grandpa! Didn’t the wheels fly off?
Me: Heck no. We used to drive from here to a different state and get there on the same day…
Soon, Iowa’s interstate speed limit will inch up from 65 MPH to 70 MPH. It’s been a long wait. Most rural roads will stay at 55 MPH.
It found these Keywords:

The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: male!

Global Warming
Global Warming Might Create Lopsided Planet
Extra precipitation expected as a result of global warming could create a lopsided world in which sea ice increases around the South Pole while the far north melts away. ~ For Antarctica, the new study concludes, the extra precipitation will mean deeper snow, which will suppress sea ice below, making it thicker over time.
No Stopping it Now: Seas to Rise 4 Inches or More this Century
Even if all industrial pollution and auto emissions suddenly ceased today, Earth’s climate will warm at least 1 degree by the year 2100 and seas will rise 4 inches (11 centimeters), according to a new study.
Toasty 2005? Year Could Become Warmest on Record
Last year was the fourth warmest since the late 1800s and climate conditions in place could cause 2005 to be the warmest, NASA scientists said this week. ~ Some scientists argue that the human contribution to global warming has been insignificant.
Space Ring Could Shade Earth and Stop Global Warming
A wild idea to combat global warming suggests creating an artificial ring of small particles or spacecrafts around Earth to shade the tropics and moderate climate extremes. There would be side effects, proponents admit.
Of these four, the Space Ring scares me the most.
